In my 8 years in Japan I've been teaching English to Japanese students from 1.5 years old up to 70 years old. I have taught many 'types' of students, motivated, unmotivated, dedicated, casual and just about any other category you can think of.Teaching English can be fun but it can get very serious at times with Eiken, TOEIC and TOEFL tests hanging over students heads.

In my Blog I would like to try and have a bit of fun. This is not an original idea but something that I like doing sometimes in class to change the pace. Everyday I would like to 'challenge' ESL students, (from anywhere in the world) to three quiz questions .The first question will be for beginners, the second for intermediate level students and the third for more advanced.English is fun so let's enjoy together!

Today's question topics are based on Japan.

1) On what island is the city of Tokyo located?

2) Which martial art is not Japanese?
a) Taekwondo b) Aikido c) Kendo d) Karate

3) Literally translated as 'New Trunk Line', what is this train better known as?
